James Larue Martin
JAMES LARUE MARTIN
Larue lost his hard fought battle with cancer on Wednesday night July 22, 2020. He left his earthly home in Pine, where he resided most of his life, and moved to a home of eternal peace and health. He was born July 27, 1944 to the late Hezzie Larue Martin and Rosalie Barber Martin of Pine. He was a graduate of Pine High School, and after attending LSU and a few years working at Exxon, he returned to Pine with his loving wife of 48 years Polly Ford Martin. Larue then spent many years as a dairy and cattle farmer, a job he truly loved. He was once awarded the Young Dairy Farmer of the Year.
Larue served for 6 years in the United States Army Reserve, worked off-shore for a few years and served as a volunteer fireman for his community for several years. He also was elected to serve 2 terms on the Washington Parish Police Jury, even serving as President during his second term. Larue was a longtime, active member of Pine Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his church that his family attended for so many years and he even had his favorite sitting spot. He will be missed by his family, friends and church family.
