Ernest "Ernie" Richard Stierwald, Sr.

Ernest "Ernie" Richard Stierwald, Sr., of Loranger, LA, passed away peacefully at the age of 72, on September 17, 2020, with his wife and son at his side.

Ernie is survived by his wife and companion of 30 years, Ivy Compton Stierwald, his son, Ernest Richard "Rich" Stierwald, Jr., daughter-in-law, Jennifer Arnona Stierwald, and two grandchildren, Brooke, and Daniel Stierwald. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard G., and Judy B. Stierwald, of Houston, Texas, and former spouse, Jeanne Cannizzaro Stierwald of River Ridge, La.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, the late Clarence George Stierwald of New Orleans, LA. and Elodie Foret Stierwald of Bogalusa, LA., as well as grandparents, Richard J. Foret, of Napoleonville, and Elodie Delaune Foret of Bogalusa, and Frederick and Antoinette Canal Stierwald of New Orleans, LA. He is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ernie was born in New Orleans, LA and was a former resident of River Ridge and Old Jefferson. He graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1969, and attended Delgado Community College Vocational Tech. He retired from General Electric in 2003 after a 28-year career as a major appliance technician. After retirement, he worked for Tonti Management until 2019 when he retired for good.

Ernie was an avid fan of all things loud and fast, and as such enjoyed watching, as well as attending, NHRA and NASCAR events, and was a lifetime member of the National Harley Owners Group (HOG), and a past member of the New Orleans HOG Chapter.

Due to COVID-19, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
