Earl Joseph Dietrich, Jr.

Earl was peacefully united with his Lord and Savior on July 5, 2020, at the age of 82. Preceded in death by his parents Earl J. Dietrich, Sr., Marie Chaillot Dietrich and his brother, Rodney Dietrich. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. for thirty-four years, a resident of Chalmette, LA. for thiry-four years, and later relocated to Ponchatoula, LA in 2005.

Survivors include his very beloved wife of 18 years, Rebecca Jane Dietrich, three sons, Kirk Edward, Craig Joseph, and David Michael, daughters-in-law Yvette, Nikki, and May and seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Survivors also include his sister Barbara Ann and brother-in-law Louis Deroche, along with two step-daughters, Susan Zimmerman (Dave), and Catherine Rutter (Tom VanStaven) and their son Luke VanStaven.

Earl served with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for five years. He enjoyed raising his three sons in the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting. In later years, Earl enjoyed his hobby of wildfowl woodcarving.

A graduate of Holy Cross High School, and Delgado Community College, he was employed in the Architectural & Engineering fields for forty-eight years. Prior to relocating to Ponchatoula, Earl was an active member of the Catholic Community of the Center of Jesus the Lord in New Orleans.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, Saturday, July 11, 2020 starting at 11:00 a.m. until the start of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Kathryn J. Martin will officiate with interment immediately following in Rose Memorial Gardens in Hammond.
