Ken Benitez / Friday, December 25, 2020 / Categories: Latest Stories, Good News Longtime Smitty's employee presented house for Christmas Even in these tough times, it will be a very Merry Christmas indeed for an Amite woman who received the gift of a lifetime from her employers this holiday season.Brenda Rheams, a 16-year associate at Smitty’s Supply in Roseland, was presented a three-bedroom, one-bath home by her employers this Christmas.Company officials applauded their longtime worker, who is lovingly referred to as the “mother hen” on the production line. Rheams has faced a number of personal challenges, including being impacted by the two floods in 2016, which devastated her home and family, but she never skipped a beat at work, company officials said.“She makes sure the quality of our products and work ethic of our production line workers are in check,” officials said, adding how much they appreciate employees’ “hard work and dedication to work, even in the toughest of times.”As a result, company officials presented Rheams with the keys to the brick home located right around the corner from Amite High School. “This is a time of year to spend with family, and we are family,” Smitty’s Supply President Chad Tate said.
