Holden teen arrested for Hammond high-speed chase
From Hammond Police

Today at approximately 12:42 pm, Nathan Anding, 18 years old of Holden, was arrested for his part in yesterday morning's high-speed pursuit.

The Hammond Police Department would like to thank members of the following agencies for their assistance in the investigation and arrests: the Louisiana State Police, U.S. Marshals Service Task Force, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, Department of Homeland Security, Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. Secret Service, Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, Killian Police Department, Ponchatoula Police Department, and Springfield Police Department.

Anding was arrested on charges of Obstruction of Justice, Hit and Run, Negligent Injury, Driving without a License, Switched License Plates, Domestic Abuse Battery, Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Resisting an Officer, and Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule I Drugs.

Earlier, the Hammond Police Department arrested Taylor Cox, 26 years old of Hammond, with charges related to the pursuit.

Wednesday at approximately 2:11 am, a Hammond Police Department officer noticed a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot of the 2700 block of West Thomas Street. As the officer began to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. The officer observed the occupants throwing things out the vehicle on both sides, indicating at least two occupants. Multiple HPD officers joined the initial officer in the pursuit. As the pursuit moved outside city limits, additional agencies joined the effort. Several miles into the pursuit, the troopers of the Louisiana State Police Troop L deployed a tire deflation device to disable the suspect’s vehicle on Wardline Road.

While troopers were retrieving the device, they were struck by a HPD unit involved in the pursuit. Both troopers were transported to North Oaks Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance. One trooper was treated for minor injuries and released. The second trooper remains in critical condition.

After the tires were disabled, the suspect’s vehicle crashed on Wardline Road, and the suspects fled the scene on foot.
