AMITE—Tangipahoa Parish will celebrate its greatest asset—its children—with a parade this Saturday in downtown Amite.
Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Melissa Stilley said the 2nd annual Krewe of Champions Parade is set to roll this Saturday, Feb. 8, at noon in Amite.
“Our school system has so much to celebrate,” Stilley said. “Our Krewe of Champions Parade is one our biggest events of the year, and we hope everyone will come out to cheer on our students, our schools, and our parish as a whole.”
The parade begins at the Regions Bank parking lot on W. Oak Street and travels east on LA 16 through the heart of downtown Amite.
Stilley said every school in the parish is represented in the parade. Entries include school bands, cheer and dance teams, as well as Students and Teachers of the Year, student athletes, clubs and student organizations and contestants at local academic events.
“Saturday promises to be a great day. The forecast is perfect, and our student champions are looking forward to this opportunity to shine. I hope everyone can come out and join us!” Stilley said.
