Deputies arrest 5, recover stolen vehicle

Press Release from St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office:

A routine traffic stop resulted in a vehicle pursuit and ultimately in the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of five subjects Thursday (April 30) morning near Slidell.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning, a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that was headed east-bound on Interstate 12. The vehicle was later found to be stolen out of New Orleans.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and led deputies on a high speed chase on Interstate 12 before exiting on Louisiana Highway 11. Deputies, along with troopers with Louisiana State Police, pursued the vehicle through Slidell before the vehicle crashed on Louisiana Highway 433 near Pichon Road. All five occupants of the vehicle fled on foot, but all were apprehended by responding deputies.

Three juveniles (one female and two males) were arrested for L.R.S. 14:69B(2) Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and L.R.S. 14:108 Resisting Arrest. One of the juveniles was also arrested for a warrant through New Orleans Police Department for armed robbery and possession of a firearm.
