Wanted fugitive captured by deputies in Denham traffic stop

From the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office:

At approximately 10:30 this morning, a deputy with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop along I-12 near the Westbound Range exit ramp.

Sheriff Jason Ard says, ‘The driver was alone. He pulled over when prompted, then refused to cooperate with law enforcement officials on scene. He did have a weapon. But, he never threatened law enforcement officials.

You may have noticed traffic was closed along this area. That was done as a precaution to keep you safe while deputies, DSPD & LSP worked to defuse the situation. Tactics used today worked. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The roadway was able to open around 11:00.

54-year old James Chunn, Jr. of Mississippi is being processed into the Livingston Parish Detention Center.

Deputies also learned today that Chunn, Jr. is wanted out of Desoto County for sexual assault.

Special thanks to DSPD & LSP for their assistance & quick action on this case.
