Traffic stop nets 3 arrests in Ponchatoula
Press Release from Ponchatoula Police:
PONCHATOULA---Ponchatoula Chief Bry Layrisson reports the arrest of Edrick Roberts, Devin Smith, and Edward Conley Jr. on the night of January 8, 2020.
Around 7:45pm, Ponchatoula Detectives and Street Crimes Agents observed a vehicle being operated in a careless manner by speeding, swerving, and running numerous stop signs. They initiated a traffic stop in which the vehicle initially failed to stop, but finally came to rest on President Hoover Street.
The driver, Edrick Roberts, approached the front passenger seat to retrieve the vehicle information when Agents immediately detected the smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Agents conducted a search of the vehicle and seized the following items: one digital weighing scale, one glass container containing marijuana, one rubber container containing Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, two handguns- one having a 50 round drum magazine attached, one marijuana smoking device, and two open alcoholic beverages.
All subjects were booked on the following charges and transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail:
--Edrick Roberts, 28- Careless Operation, Driving Under Suspension, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Schedule I Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Firearm While Possessing CDS, and Resisting by Flight.
--Devin Smith, 24- Resisting an Officer and Open Container in a Vehicle.
--Edward Conley Jr, 26- Resisting an Officer and Open Container in a Vehicle.
