STPSO searches for hit-and-run driver

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying an individual wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash that occurred Christmas Day in the Abita Springs area.
Shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 25, STPSO traffic deputies were dispatched to the area of Allen Road and Jarrell Road in Abita Springs in reference to a crash involving a pick-up truck and an adult male traveling on a bicycle.
The truck struck the cyclist and left the scene prior to the arrival of responding deputies. The cyclist sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital.
A witness described the vehicle to be an older model (1997-2004) possibly tan or light-colored Ford F-150.
The driver was described as a middle-aged white male with an amputated hand or arm. Evidence recovered from the scene indicates the truck sustained damage to the passenger front side.
