SLU's Gordon earns All-Academic honors
HAMMOND, La. – Megan Gordon was named Academic All-Southland Second Team for the Southeastern Louisiana women’s soccer, the league office announced Friday.
Gordon, a junior, has a cumulative GPA of 3.83 majoring in Exercise Science. The Clophill, England native adds Friday’s achievement to a list of career accomplishments. The 2018 All-Southland Conference Honorable Mention selection was named to the Southland Conference Fall Commissioner’s Honor Roll in 2017 and 2018.
The midfielder has been steady for the Lions, under third-year Southeastern soccer head coach Chris McBride, both in the classroom and on the field. Gordon has played in all 54 games for SLU the last three seasons with 49 starts since her debut Aug. 8, 2017 against Jackson State.
“Megan has been a great example to her teammates from day one,” said McBride. “She's always putting the team before herself and she leads by example. All-Academic is a great honor because it not only recognizes a student’s athletic ability, but also credits the ladies for their success in the classroom. At Southeastern we are always chasing classroom, community and competition and it's great for Megan to get this award.”
