PPD arrests 3 juveniles following vehicle burglaries

PONCHATOULA---Chief Bry Layrisson reports the arrest of three juveniles in connection with recent vehicle burglaries over the holidays.
Ponchatoula PD was first notified of the vehicle burglaries at 6 a.m. on January 1, 2020, by a victim that saw two of the juveniles walking away after being inside of his vehicle in Weinberger Trace. PPD officers made contact with the offenders at the entrance of the subdivision. After further investigation, both juveniles admitted to committing the vehicle burglary. One was charged with Vehicle Burglary and Possession of Alcohol by Person Under 21. The other juvenile was charged with Vehicle Burglary and Possession of Tobacco by Person Under 18.
Ponchatoula Police later received two other complaints of vehicle burglaries occurring on S. 3rd Street and S. 4th Street. A total of four guns were missing from these two locations.
All stolen firearms were recovered on January 3rd at various locations. Ponchatoula PD and Hammond PD Officers also did a search of a residence on N. First Street and located the last remaining firearm and drug paraphernalia. The third juvenile was arrested at this residence after admitting to knowingly storing the stolen items. This juvenile was charged with Possession of a Firearm while Possessing CDS, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearm.
Chief Layrisson would like to remind citizens to always lock their vehicles and make sure to keep any valuables out of plain sight.
