Judge Brenda Ricks rules in Amite criminal court

Amite- District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that the following individuals appeared in court on November 5, 2019 before Judge Brenda Ricks and pleaded either guilty or no contest or were found guilty of the following crimes and received the following sentences:

Kentrell Brumfield, age 32, of Kentwood, LA, pleaded no contest to first offense domestic abuse battery- strangulation, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, and home invasion. He was sentenced to three years with the department of corrections. The sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years. He is ordered to pay a $1,000.00 fine along with court costs.

Charles Copeland, age 41, of Loranger, LA, was sentenced to six months in the parish jail for second offense violation of a protective order. The sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for one year. He is ordered to pay a $350.00 fine along with court costs.

Samuel Johnson, age 38, of Hammond, LA, pleaded no contest to three counts of second degree cruelty to juveniles. He was sentenced to five years with the department of corrections. The sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He is ordered to pay a $1,200.00 fine along with court costs.

Heather Lovejoy, age 29, of Hammond, LA, pleaded no contest to third offense driving while intoxicated. She was sentenced to five years with the department of corrections. Four years of the sentence was suspended and she will be placed on probation for three years and ordered to pay a $2,000.00 fine upon release.

Alejandro Perez, age 18, of Hammond, LA, pleaded no contest to three counts of simple burglary. He was sentenced to five years with the department of corrections. The sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation or three years. He is ordered to pay a $1,200.00 fine along with court costs.

April Prine, age 34, of Independence, LA, pleaded no contest to cruelty to juveniles. She was sentenced to five years with the department of corrections. The sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation for three years. She is ordered to pay a $1,200.00 fine along with court costs.

Thonisha Rainey, age 23, of Roseland, LA, pleaded no contest to two counts of aggravated second degree battery and illegal use of weapons. She was sentenced to five years with the department of corrections. The sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation for three years. She is ordered to pay a $1,200.00 fine along with court costs.

Tanisha Robinson, age 29, of New Orleans, LA, pleaded no contest to three counts of simple criminal damage to property and aggravated assault. She was sentenced to two years with the department of corrections. The sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation for two years. She is ordered to pay a $1,200.00 fine along with court costs.

Jeremy Stewart, age 41, of Albany, LA, pleaded no contest to possession of schedule II controlled dangerous substances, possession of marijuana, improper turn, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was sentenced to two years with the department of corrections. The sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He is ordered to pay a $200.00 fine along with court costs.
