December 26, 2019, City of Hammond, LA – On December 12, 2019, the Hammond Police Department began investigating a wallet theft that occurred at Winn-Dixie located at 2302 West Thomas Street.
The victim stated that she was distracted by a black female in the store while selecting items to purchase and when she tried to finish her purchase, she realized her wallet was missing. The victim then cancelled her bank cards. Later, her bank contacted her about a fraudulent purchase at Target.
Through their investigation, HPD detectives obtained photographs and video surveillance of a black male suspect, assumed to be working with the female who distracted the victim, attempting to use the stolen credit cards at Target.
