HPD investigates burglaries on S. Cherry, University Drive

Press Release from Hammond Police:

December 17, 2019, City of Hammond, LA – The Hammond Police Department is currently investigating several burglaries within the neighborhoods of University Avenue along with the South Cherry Street area. Most of the burglaries are occurring while people are out of town overnight or for several days.



One particular burglary on South Cherry Street is believed to have occurred at approximately 3:45 am on December 15, 2019. At that time, two male subjects were seen in the area of a victim’s backyard and left on foot.

Hammond Police Chief Edwin Bergeron Jr. said, “With the holiday season here, thefts and burglaries do tend to increase. It is important for citizens to stay vigilant by double-checking that your homes and cars are locked and to quickly report any suspicious activity that they may witness.”
