Four indicted for murder; two charged with sex crimes


Press Release from District Attorney Scott Perrilloux:

GREENSBURG---District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that the following individuals were indicted by a St. Helena Parish Grand Jury on October 27, 2020:

Jaylohn Mitchell, age 19, of Ponchatoula, LA, was indicted for one count of second-degree murder. On June 21, 2020, the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office were notified of a shooting that occurred on McDaniel Road near a trail ride. According to reports, Tykeith Harold had just driven up to the location and got out of his vehicle to go into the trail ride when a dark colored Mercedes Benz pulled up to him. A male exited the passenger side of the vehicle at which time an argument ensued between Tykeith Harold and Jaylohn Mitchell. As things began to get physical, Mitchell retrieved a handgun from his person and fired several shots striking Tykeith Harold at least twice in the chest area. Harold collapsed on the side of the street (McDaniel Road). Mitchell fled the scene on foot and was arrested a short time later as he left the parish going to Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Harold was put into a private owned vehicle and taken to Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite, Louisiana where he was pronounced deceased.

The case was scheduled for preliminary exam for November 20, 2020.

Lynette Muse, age 35, of Denham Springs, LA, and Christopher Causey, age 38, of Denham Springs, LA, were both indicted for one count of Second Degree Murder each.

On July 1, 2020, the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office dispatch was notified of a body spotted on side of the road on Opal Bennett Road. Deputies located a body on side of the roadway. After further investigation, the body was determined to be a transgender female, later identified as Joseph Peters. The victim was last seen on June 29, 2020 with Lynette Muse and Christopher Causey leaving Fred Banks Drive in Denham Springs, Louisiana traveling to St. Helena Express Casino. Causey and Muse returned home without Peters. Muse and Causey are accused of driving the victim to a remote location on Opal Bennett Road late night or early morning and shooting victim several times where they left the body on side of the roadway of Opal Bennett Road.

The case is scheduled for a preliminary exam on November January 29, 2021.

Carl Pitts Jr., age 43, of Amite, LA, was indicted for one count of Second Degree Murder.

On August 10, 2020, the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call regarding a deceased person found in the roadway on Driftwood Lane. Deputies found a male in the roadway identified as Damona Moore who resides on Driftwood Lane. Through investigation, it was determined that Moore was shot once in the upper left side by Pitts. Pitts and Moore had an ongoing feud.

Arraignment for Pitts is scheduled for December 4, 2020.

Jonathan Davis, age 35, of Greensburg, LA, was indicted for one count of First Degree Rape-Victim under 13 years of age.

Arraignment is scheduled for December 4, 2020.

Trevis Dorsey, age 28, of Denham Springs, LA, was indicted for one count of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Arraignment was scheduled for November 20, 2020.
