Bogalusa Police are asking for the public’s assistance in learning more about a shooting that injured 13 during a gathering Saturday night.
According to a press release issued Sunday morning, BPD responded to the area of Martin Luther King Drive at East 4th Street shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday in response to calls that “several subjects had been shot and needed medical attention.”
“Upon arrival, officers observed an extremely large crowd of people gathered in the area for what was believed to be a memorial service for Dominque James (who was recently found murdered),” the report reveals.
Washington Parish Sheriff’s deputies, the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, Louisiana State Police, Varando Police, Bogalusa Fire and Northshore EMS assisted at the scene.
Bogalusa Police said 13 individuals were shot, including one who was described in “critical condition.” Officials say that as of midday Sunday, “no eyewitnesses have come forth with any information.”
