Charles James Hernandez was born December 18, 1951 and passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010 at his residence in Livingston, LA. He was 58 and a native of Denham Springs.

Charles is survived by 2 daughters, Joyce Hernandez and Melissa Hamlet; 2 sons, Chester Tony Hernandez and Eric Hernandez; former wife, Lillie Hernandez Stafford; 10 grandchildren, Stefanie Blankenship, Carl Blankenship, Wiliam Hamlet, Bethany Hamlet, Steven Hernandez, Elizabeth Hernandez, Keith Hernandez, Savannah Hutchinson, Sherae Hernandez, & T.J. Hernandez; 2 great grandchildren, Tessa Jones & Ethan Blankenship.

Preceded in death by his parents, Chester & Mamie Hughes Hernandez; 3 brothers, Hillary Hernandez, Johnny Hernandez & Lester Hernandez.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements.

Sicilian Grand Marshal

SDT Waste President Sidney Torres IV has been named Grand Marshal of the Sicilian Festival which runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Independence. Torres is pictured above with Mayor Mike Ragusa and Chairman Reggie Martin holding a case of Castello beer that was presented to him at Town Hall.
