LEO PAT SMITH, AGE 81

And a resident of Pine died at 7:40 PM Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Louisiana Heart Hospital in Lacombe.

He was owner of Smith and Smith LLC John Deere Tractor Company for 53 years. He was a member of Stateline Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Washington Parish Fire District #4 in Pine, he was also a perpetual member of The Grant Lodge of the State of Louisiana and Pine Lodge # 264, and he proudly served as District Deputy of 14th District in 1991. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in the Korean War. He loved his family, deer hunting and fishing.

Survived by: Wife of 53 years Elaine Crain Smith of Pine, Children and spouses: Donnie Paul Smith of Franklinton, Patsy Dianne Smith, Jeffrey Scott and Loretta Smith, Russell Barrett and Tiffany Smith all of Pine, Grandchildren and spouses: Jessica and Ben Dunnam, Johanna and Alex Brumfield, Wendy and Jacob Rawls, Nikkie and Blake Hughes, Bailey Smith, Kyle Smith, Kendra Smith, Evan Smith, Ashley Smith, Austen Hughes, Easton Smith, Special Cousin: Katherine Kennedy of Franklinton, Great grandchildren: Abbi Russell, Miley Rawls, Zeke Hughes

He was preceded in death by his parents Ruven O. and Blanche Bickham Smith.

 

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton from 5 PM until 9 PM Monday, February 08, 2010 with a Masonic Service to be held at 7 PM by the Pine Masonic Lodge #264. Visitation will continue after 10 AM Tuesday at Stateline Missionary Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM at the church with Eld. Billy Mac Lowery and Eld. Brent King officiating. Burial will follow in the Seal Cemetery at Stateline.

SDT Waste President Sidney Torres IV has been named Grand Marshal of the Sicilian Festival which runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Independence. Torres is pictured above with Mayor Mike Ragusa and Chairman Reggie Martin holding a case of Castello beer that was presented to him at Town Hall.
