Gladys Louise Schech Delarosa passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010.

Beloved wife of the late Merlin Herbert “Bill” Delarosa. Mother of Christine Hopson, Marlene Williams, Charlene Frosch and Ann Delarosa-Strain. Sister of Charles Schech, Ruth Iris Dickens, Dorothy Willems and the late Harvey Schech, Henrietta Beneke, Geraldine Schech, Irene Cecile Schech and Frances Gautreaux. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Age 83 years. A native of Waldheim, LA, graduated from Charity School of Nursing and resided in New Orleans for 30 years where she was employed as a registered nurse at Charity Hospital on the Pediatrics Ward. She retired and returned to Waldheim.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from Waldheim Methodist Church, 77067 Hwy 21, Covington, LA 70435 on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment in Waldheim Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to Charity School of Nursing Alumni Association, 450 S. Claiborne Ave., New Orleans, LA 70112.

Sicilian Grand Marshal

SDT Waste President Sidney Torres IV has been named Grand Marshal of the Sicilian Festival which runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Independence. Torres is pictured above with Mayor Mike Ragusa and Chairman Reggie Martin holding a case of Castello beer that was presented to him at Town Hall.
