 Penny Power

On Friday Director Kathleen Abels and other TARC workers counted pennies, quarters, dollar bills, and checks sent by local school children to bridge budget gaps at the Tangipahoa-based agency.  Serving disabled children in a multi-parish area, TARC has operated the annual Penny Power donation drive in local schools for nearly 15 years.  Abels said that Friday marked the end of the second week of the three-week Penny Power campaign.  Officials said that as of this week, the drive has raised about half of its $60,000 goal.  Next week is the final week of the program as Penny Power moves into area high schools, junior highs, and private schools.  For more information or to make a donation, call (985) 345-8811.
